Nick Massengill has 35+ years of senior leadership experience in manufacturing and distribution with a focus on the lumber and building materials (LBM) industry. His experience spans from outside sales to board leadership, including manufacturing, distribution, mergers & acquisitions, executive leadership, board governance, and leading operational, sales, and business turnarounds. In addition to the LBM industry, he has served in numerous board and leadership roles in new business ventures within banking, private equity, and commercial real estate.
Massengill began his career with Georgia Pacific Corporation as a Sales Representative and held sales positions with two small independent lumber and building materials companies. In 1989, he was hired as Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Robert Bowden, Inc., a local millwork and building materials supplier with one location and $13 million in annual revenue. Becoming a Managing Partner in 1995 and President in 2012, he was one of three senior partners managing all areas of strategy, sales, expansion, and operations delivering substantial year over year growth in revenue and profitability. In 2001, Massengill was part of the leadership team to transition the company to 100% employee ownership. In 2015, he negotiated the sale of the ESOP corporation to BMC for a multiple of earnings, which set a historic high for the LBM industry. Since 2015, Massengill has managed the Atlanta Region for BMC, where he has outperformed business expectations and forecasts year over year.
Massengill has founded, managed and grown several ventures, including private equity funds and holding companies, as well as commercial development, mezzanine lending, and venture capital groups. He served as an organizer and a founding board director of a startup commercial community bank. His leadership experience includes numerous board and executive positions with industry and community organizations, such as the Harvard University-Joint Center for Housing Studies, the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, and the University of North Georgia Foundation Board of Trustees. Massengill completed a Master of Business Administration from Kennesaw State University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from The University of North Georgia with a double major in Management and Marketing. He currently lives in Marietta, Georgia with his wife of 35 years, Angela.
